Hi, my name is Stephanie Johns and I am
the fulltime LVT for Baker College in Port Huron. I have been
teaching and working in the veterinary technology program at Port
Huron since 2007. Prior to teaching full time, I worked in a mixed
animal practice for six years and owned my own pet sitting business.
My love of animals has been there since I was a child, but it was
not until I was in my 30s when I finally turned that love into a
career. I will be graduating with my Bachelors in Health Services
Administration in the spring of 2011 and hope to continue inspiring
veterinary technology students and educating our community about the
value of licensed veterinary technicians.
My home life includes a Labrador Retriever--Delilah; a German Short
Haired Pointer--Zelda; my hurricane Katrina AND Rita survivor --
Bruno who is a Labrador/pit mix and my constant classroom companion,
our latest adoptee, a very long mini-dachshund--Schweini who was
thrown out of a moving car and we are the “accepted” family to my 16
year old daughter’s Siamese mix –Naomi. It is a very full and active
house and we all enjoy hiking and camping in the summer. Free time
is spent trying to stay active by biking, exercising, and playing
with the dogs.
I look forward to representing our association in matters that
concern legislation and continuing education as well as adhering to
a high standard of quality for our profession. I desire to continue
fostering good will throughout the community as my predecessors have
done and listening to what our members are saying so that we can
move our profession forward.
