Jessica Billington graduated from Macomb Community College in 2002 with an associate’s of applied science degree in veterinary technology. She obtained her license shortly after graduation in 2002. She has worked in veterinary medicine since 1998 in several different aspects including: general practice, surgery, emergency medicine and oncology. Currently, she works at Oakland Veterinary Referral Services in Bloomfield Hills in the oncology and alternative medicine departments. Jessica has been working in oncology for over 8 years now and loves everyday of it. Jessica enjoys lecturing on oncology, pet loss/grieving and alternative medicine. She speaks at several of the veterinary technician schools about oncology. She also has spoke at conferences including the Veterinary Cancer Society in 2007, OVRS veterinary technician week conference in 2007 and the 1st ever Pet Loss conference at MSU in 2008. She runs a monthly grief support group at OVRS. She enjoys learning new things about veterinary technology and educating herself further in new developments in oncology/alternative medicine. Her goal in being the MAVT vice-president is to help increase the membership and to educate the public more about veterinary technicians. In her off time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her beagle, Daisy, and her two cats, Kevin and Sheeba. She loves yoga, watching movies, cooking, reading books and hanging out with friends and family.
